• Two neurons make-up the motor system:

• First neuron is in the brainstem or sacral cord.
• Second neuron is in a cranial ganglion or in the innervated organ wall.

• Cranial motor components are in 3, 7, 9, 10, and sacral nerves 2-4

• Constricts the pupil, 3th
• Saliva production 7, 9th
• Nasal mucosa 7th
• Slow the heart 10th
• Constrict the bronchi 10th
• Increase gut secretion & motility 10th
• Enhance genital function Sacral
• Bladder and rectal control Sacral

• The sensory components are bipolar neurons in nerve ganglia with synapses in the brainstem.
