Section through the lower part of the mesencephalon. Inferior colliculi forms the tectum. Ventral to the colliculi, the tegmentum has a massive decussation of the superior cerebellar peduncles that push the medial lemnisci, laterally. The lateral lemniscus has the auditory leg splits off to the inferior colliculus while the pain pathway continues rostral to the dorsal thalamus. The MLF remains ventral to the peri-aqueduct gray.
