Rexed Lamina and Gray Zones
These laminae represent a way of functionally and structurally defining zones in the spinal cord gray matter. The size of the zones changes along the length of the cord. The general nomenclature on the left helps to localize neuronal groups. The Rexed lamina groupings on the right have been used in physiological studies to determine precise locations of neurons and zones of synaptic connections.
