Auditory Receptor Cells
Hair cells of auditory outer rows. Stereocilia project from the auditory canal surface to meet the tectorial membrane. The endolymph surface of these cells is the site of tranduction for sound energy displacements that produce depolarizations of these receptor cells. Auditory receptor cells have a base of a kinocilium but no cilium. See Auditory System module for details.
