Neuronal Somata
A prominent nucleolus marks the nucleus, and Nissl substance (ribosomes) fill the cytoplasm. The nuclear and cytoplasmic membranes are not visible in light microcopy.
Glia and supporting cell nuclei are also present. Schwann cell nuclei are elongated and are related to PNS myelinated nerve fibers either passing by or emerging from the neurons.
