Olfactory receptor cell axons project to the olfactory bulb and synapse in the olfactory glomeruli lining the surface of the bulbs. On the right, dendrites of the olfactory pyramidal cells (mitrial and tufted cells) project into glomeruli as dendritic branches that receive olfactory receptor cell axons. Tufted cells are smaller. Bilateral inter connections are made across the anterior commissure.
